You’re Not Lost. You’re in Transition. And That’s Powerful.
Let’s get one thing straight:
Just because you’re questioning your career path doesn’t mean you’re lost.
In fact? It probably means you’re finally listening to yourself.
There’s a moment, maybe you’ve felt it, when your role stops feeling like a fit. Not because you can’t do it (you’re probably doing it too well), but because something inside is quietly saying: There’s more.
More alignment. More purpose. More of you in the work.
But here’s the problem: no one teaches us how to navigate these shifts. Especially when you’re the one who’s always been seen as “reliable,” the one who gets things done, the one who doesn’t complain.
So instead of clarity, you’re left with guilt. Doubt. A silent loop of:
“Am I being ungrateful?” “What if I mess this up?” “Is it too late to want more?”
I’ve been there. And I want to offer you a new perspective:
You’re not behind. You’re not too late.
You’re just ready. And that readiness is not a crisis—it’s a call.
When the Career You Built Doesn’t Fit Anymore
For years, I worked in HR and People Operations. I helped build systems, coached leaders and navigated growth from the inside out. But beneath the steady rhythm of my career, something was shifting.
People saw me as dependable. Strategic. A “rock.”
But not a leader.
Not a visionary.
Not someone with a voice that could shape the room.
And if I’m being honest, part of me believed them.
I told myself:
“This is fine.”
“This is what stability looks like.”
“This is just how it is.”
But deep down? It wasn’t fine. It was familiar—and that’s not the same thing.
The truth is, many of us stay in roles we’ve outgrown because they’re comfortable. Because they look good on paper. Because no one wants to be the one who seems “too ambitious” or “hard to please.”
But comfort without alignment is its own kind of burnout. And when you start to feel that, when the job no longer reflects who you are—it’s not failure. It’s feedback.
What Clarity Actually Looks Like
Let’s talk about this word we throw around: clarity.
Clarity doesn’t mean you wake up one day with a perfect five-year plan.
It means you:
Get radically honest about what’s no longer working
Name the gap between who you’ve been and who you’re becoming
Start moving even without having it all figured out
Clarity is not a destination. It’s a practice.
And in career transitions, it often starts with the most important (and scariest) question:
What do I want now—knowing what I know about myself?
If that question feels too big, too tender, too messy—I hear you. You’re not alone in that.
Most of the clients I work with aren’t lost. They’re just… stuck in a version of themselves they’ve outgrown.
And the hardest part isn’t making a change.
It’s believing they’re allowed to.
So if you’re in the middle of a career transition or quietly craving one, this is for you:
You’ve done everything “right”... and still feel like something’s missing
You’re good at your job, but you’re not lit up by it anymore
You feel a pull toward something more aligned—but don’t know how to name it yet
You want to move forward, but the fear of choosing “wrong” keeps you still
You’re tired of doubting yourself, shrinking your vision, or waiting for permission to evolve
If that sounds like you?
Here’s what I want you to hear:
You don’t need to have it all figured out to take the next step.
You’re not selfish for wanting more. You’re self-aware.
You’re not stuck. You’re in motion because even your questioning is movement.
Why This Work Matters (and Why I Do It)
When I started One Oak Coaching, it wasn’t because I had all the answers.
It was because I knew how many brilliant, capable people were out there dimming their light waiting for a green light that would never come.
I coach from experience. I coach from empathy. And I coach with structure because clarity without strategy is just another Pinterest quote.
Together, we don’t just rewrite your resume. We rewrite the narrative in your head.
We uncover what’s next, yes but more importantly, we ground you in who you are now.
So that no matter what direction you take, you’re not moving from fear… you’re moving from power.
The Bridge Back to You
If this blog feels like a mirror, that’s not an accident.
This is the work I do.
And if you’re ready to stop spinning, overthinking, or second-guessing your way through this transition, I want to help.
We’ll build clarity with purpose.
We’ll define your next move with intention.
And we’ll do it all without losing the heart of who you are.
Because this shift?
It isn’t about becoming someone new.
It’s about finally trusting the version of you that’s been waiting to rise.
Let’s find your next step together.
